Ruby waxes lyrical about "Leadership through Communication"

Went to a lunch time seminar today offered by rogenSi (http://www.rogensi.com/) where Ruby Wax spoke about using communication to engage with your audience (whether one person or a whole room). She went beyond the usual and obvious by demonstrating how impactful it is if you manage to take the person away from something that feels like an interview, into something that feels like a conversation, and without realising it both parties want the interaction to continue.

Not rocket science, or new, but certainly a very effective seminar in terms of making the potential impact clear, and giving some examples of how to get there. She showed effective videos of how to and how not to with Hugh Hefner, Madonna and Imelda Marcos.

The rogenSi offices near Fleet Street were an effective location for the 100 or so participants, and the session was effectively sandwiched by one of their principals who meantioned a number of key Leadership and Change points including the "Marathon Effect", which helps you remember that when the Elite Runners (company leadership) are finishing the race (the change) the mass runners (your employees) have only just started.

That speaker also manager to get over half the audience to remove their shoes without any challenge!
